Referrals for Editing/Proofreading
For most questions from students—refer them to the UI writing center first. They can obtain tutoring in person or submit a document for online review.
The Scientific Editing and Research Core is available for professional health sciences editing specifically (grant submissions, manuscripts): https://medicine.uiowa.edu/sercc/ This is headed by Christine Blaumueller and fees for services are provided on the site. They are PhD level scientists and can help with the content as well as the writing. (Christine also in past had provides editing services at http://christineblaumueller.com/)
Carver College of Medicine Faculty can also obtain free editing services from Paul Casella. See this page https://medicine.uiowa.edu/facultyaffairs/consultant-services Paul is not a scientist and so would not help with the content but with the deliver of the content. He also does consultation and seminars on campus about presentation/pulic speaking skills.
