2-Hour Reserves / Overnight Loans

A reader can borrow a 2-hour Course Reserve book overnight.

If the person checks out a book within 2 hours of the service desk closing, the material is due the first hour the next day the desk re-opens.

Example

The service desk closes at 1 am
Patron should borrow the book after 11 pm
The service desk opens the next day at 7:30 am
The book is due at 8:30 am

 

 

 

Renewals

  • To renew an item, just check it out again! 
  • There is no need to return the material first.
  • Tell the patron the new due date / time.
  • Let users know they can also renew items on their own by logging into their account.

Important!  The Library does not permit renewals on hourly loans (reserve books, chargers, etc.). We do not renew hourly Course Reserve loans. If someone wishes to check out one of these items again, they need to wait 1 hour for daily checkouts and a half hour for hourly checkout items. If there is another copy of the item, the patron can borrow that one. 

For chargers, as long as it is not the last item in its category left, we can check the item in and check it back out to the user if they request to renew. This also applies to 4-hour undergraduate study rooms.
