Alma User Loans & Book Searches

User Loans

Library users can find what they currently have on loan—and even renew certain items—by signing on to InfoHawk+ (the Libraries' search engine).

You can also display a patron's loans by using Alma:

  • Manage Patron Services.
  • Scan the ID Card.
  • At Loan Display change the pull-down menu to All loans.

Book Search

Although staff usually search books with InfoHawk+, you can also use Alma.  Alma provides loan and other information.

  • Start with the search box near the top of the screen.
  • Select Physical items from the drop-down menu.
  • Enter the book's title, author, or keywords.
  • Choose the record that matches the requested book.
  • If you see Process type: Loan, the book is already checked-out.
  • If you see Process type: In Transit, the book is moving between libraries.
  • Click on Loan or In Transit for details.

IMPORTANT!  You can tell the person looking for a book when it is due.  However, you cannot reveal who has the book.  The best option is for the patron to use Interlibrary Loan or Uborrow (see Missing Items).
