Building Information

Building Keys:

If you need a specific building key, please contact Mark.
This includes staff bathroom, loading dock, general access keys, etc.

AMAG:

If the AMAG system is not functioning, occupants are to call 335-5071 and ask for us (Facilities Management) to investigate/repair the problem. If it is after hours, the same phone number is used, but the caller needs to press “1” to get transferred to the Power Plant so that our after-hours maintenance person can take care of the call. If the AMAG system is not working after hours and it is imperative that you get into the building, contact UI Police Emergency Communications Center/Dispatch at 335-5022 and an officer would be dispatched to assist you. The UI Police are the only ones that are issued override keys for the exterior AMAG doors, and they keep those keys in an electronic key safe that can track who “checks out” a key ring.

If the building loses power, the AMAG system will run on batteries for several hours. If the building loses Ethernet connectivity, the AMAG program functions based on the most recent instructions and access rights for cardholders. In the four years we’ve had AMAG on campus (and over 50 buildings), an override key has not been needed on an exterior door. We have been asked to issue override keys for the exterior doors for the new Hygienics Lab building at the Research Park Campus and for Jessup Hall – both requests were denied. In fact, the Knox Box, installed on the outside of buildings for Fire Department access, has a proximity card or fob, not a key, for the first responders to gain access to buildings.
