How to Print and Scan

There are four print stations located on the first floor of the Main Library in the Learning Commons: North end, South end, East (between orange and red striped Group Study Rooms), and one that is through the "gates" against the wall that is opposite of the Course Reserves/Holds. There are three print stations located in the second floor ITC. 

Print from your laptop to a UI Print Station:

  1. Connect to the Eduroam wifi network (if you aren’t already connected).
  2. Go to https://printing.its.uiowa.edu .
    (Search Google for uiowa papercut to find this URL if you forget it.)
  3. Login to PaperCut with your HawkID/password.
    Note: You can only print double-sided if you use the PaperCut system to print.
  4. Click Web Print in the left column.
  5. Click Submit a Job button and follow the prompts:
    • Choose BW (black/white) or COLOR printer (labeled ITC-BW or ITC-COLOR)
    • Select the number of copies you need
  6. Upload your document .
    (click and drag or click the “Upload from computer” button to search for your document)
  7. Click the Upload and Complete button – You will see a link that says “Held in queue”
  8. Walk to a Print Station and enter your HawkID (just the first part…not @uiowa.edu) to release the print job.

Print from a library computer:

  1. Open your document on any computer in the library.
  2. Open the print dialog from the program you are using (click print).
  3. Choose the black & white or the color printer.
  4. Choose the options in the dialog box you want. For instance, you might want single-sided printing.
  5. Print.
  6. Walk to a Print Station and enter your HawkID (just the first part…not @uiowa.edu) to release the print job.

Scanners:

Scanners are also available on the first floor. The Main Library has two different types of KIC scanners, a Bookeye or overhead scanner, useful for scanning large images from above and a BookEdge scanner, great for scanning individual documents and book pages. Desktop Computers

The Information Technology Center (ITS) is located on the second floor and dual and single monitor desktop computers are available first come first serve. Desktop computers are also available on the first floor Learning Commons and Service Commons and feature standard software titles, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader and Python.
