Library Floor Plans
Our floorplan includes information about where our printed materials are physically located in the library.
An Overview of InfoHawk+
InfoHawk+ is the name of our online catalog, and it is a great place to start your research.
InfoHawk+ is designed to search across our libraries' print and digital collections, including journal articles from a selection of the many databases to which we subscribe. It can be used to provide you access to:
- Books (both print and digital)
- Scholarly journal articles (both print and digital)
- Newspaper Articles (current and historical)
- Archival and Special Collection materials
- Audiovisual Content (DVDs, CDs, Blu-Ray, and streamable content)
- Course Reserves
Using InfoHawk+ to Find Print Materials in Our Library
Once you find a book title in InfoHawk+, you will want to take note of a few things:
- the format of the book (is it offered in print, as an ebook, or both?)
- the item availability
- the location (is it housed at the Main Library, or at another one of our libraries on campus?)
- the status (is it currently on the shelf or is it held off-site?)
- the call number
When you are looking for a print book in our libraries, always start with the beginning of the call number. Books are arranged alphabetically starting with this. For example, all PR call numbers are together, after PP and before PS, and all P’s come after all combinations of N and before all combinations of Q, like this:
P, PA, PB . . . PP, PR, PS . . . Q, QA, QB
When books have identical letter combinations, look to the number line next. Books are ordered using whole numbers on this part. For example:
PR1 PR206 PR1056 PR6037 PR6209
In the Main Library, you will find our books are arranged by call number according to the following:
- A-D Fifth Floor, East
- E-N Fifth Floor, West
- P1-PS3515 Fourth Floor, East
- PS3517-Z Second Floor, Southwest
You can always ask a librarian or staff member for help, too!
