How Do I Reserve Group Study Spaces in the Main Library?
One way you can reserve the group study rooms on the first floor is by using the touch panels located outside of the room you want to use.
If the panel is red, it means the room is reserved for the time period or minutes currently displayed.
If the touch panel is green, it means the room is available to be reserved. Click on "Reserve Room" to book your time.
If the light on the panel is red and the room is not in use 10 minutes into the reserved period, it may be used by another group for the duration of the period. You may press end now and a Manage option will appear: Do you want to end this meeting? Press yes to end and then you may click on book room to reserve it.
The other way you can reserve these study rooms is through the Outlook Calendar associated with your University of Iowa email account.
Booking with Outlook:
- Log on with your HawkID and password via office365.uiowa.edu and open the Outlook app. Then, open your Outlook Calendar.
- Click on new event in the upper left corner of the calendar
- Add title of meeting or event in the add a title field.
- You can add the names of people studying with you in the invite attendees field, but this is optional.
- Set date and time for which you wish to reserve the room (make sure to include start and end times). Confirm time zone CST. Reservations made using the REPEAT option will be declined.
- Click search for a room or a location and choose Browse with Room Finder.
- In the Room Finder window under Building enter Library Learning Commons Study Space.
- Click on the room you want to reserve. Verify you have entered the correct date and time. When you are finished, click Send.
- After you click send, the event will appear in your calendar. A room verification message will be sent to your email within a few minutes confirming your time slot.
- Please check verification email to ensure your reservation has been accepted!
