The 2019 Corn Mounument recognizes the 80th anniversary of Nile Kinnick's Heisman Trophy winning season. The University of Iowa Libraries holds the Nile Kinnick Collection. In a letter dated December 3, 1939 his father, Nile Kinnick Sr., wishes him a safe trip to New York for the Heisman Trophy presentation but also reminds him that he will need to "promptly return to the scholastic pursuits which remain the prime purpose of your being in the University." Also, as only a parent can suggests he gets a haircut - "if you want to make the best impression, please buy one of the short haircuts. This is a serious suggestion."
