This corn monument features Iowa Stadium - potentially this design was to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its completion in October of 1929. Iowa Stadium would be renamed to Kinnick Stadium to honor the 1939 Heisman Trophy Winner Nile Kinnick. His Heisman Trophy Biography cites that during the 1939 season Kinnick averaged 57 minutes per game on the field and over the course of the season would be directly involved in 107 of the entire team's 130 points that season. In 1943, Nile Kinnick would be killed in action during World War II.
