Guide to the University of Iowa Libraries: Community Visitors & Borrowers

Guide to the University of Iowa Libraries for new students, staff, faculty, and visitors.

Visitors & Community Users

We welcome all visitors to the University of Iowa Libraries. Our libraries are open to the public during normal open hours where visitors can use our spaces, visit Special Collections by appointment, use our computers with a Guest ID, and browse through the collections. Throughout the year, we host programs and events visitors are welcome to attend.

Community Borrowers

We also offer community borrower cards to Iowa state residents which allow residents to check out materials.

You can find detailed information at our website by going to www.lib.uiowa.edu/services/visitors/ or contact circulation services at 319-335-5299 and through lib-maincirc@uiowa.edu.

High School & K-12

The University Libraries hosts school groups for visits. These visits usually include a tour and an instruction-style presentation to introduce your students to the University Libraries and learn more about our resources. Instructors and teachers can visit our webpage on High School Visits, as well as reach out to LIB-HIGH-SCHOOL@LIST.UIOWA.EDU for general inquiries. The same email can be used to ask about K-8 visits.
