Technology Available at the Main Library: How to Print

Printing at Main

The seven printers located across the first and second floors of the Main Library are available for use by students, faculty, staff, and visitors (with purchase of a PrintKey, see below for details). This page covers different printing services at the Main Library, including information on how to print and where to find ITC Print Stations.

Printing costs $0.07 per side for black and white and $0.20 per side for color. The University of Iowa offers pay-after-you-print printing. This allows you to print in the ITCs without having to pay ahead of time. Your University Bill will be billed monthly for all printing you do during the month.

To check your current print account balance, simply sign in to an ITC computer and your balance will display on the desktop. Or visit https://printing.its.uiowa.edu and sign in with your HawkID and password. Your current balance is listed in the Summary box near the top of the page. You cannot put money on your printing account. If printing is incorrectly charged to your account, talk to staff at the Service desk or contact the ITS Help Desk.

Note: The Main Library no longer provides photocopier services. To substitute, consider using our scanners and Print Stations.

How to Print at Main as a Guest

Guests must purchase a PrintKey in order to print. PrintKeys are available at the Food for Thought Cafe on the first floor of the Main Library, Pat's Diner in the Pappajohn Business Building, and at the EMRB Cafe in the Eckstein Medical Research Building (EMRB). PrintKeys are only redeemable by ITC guests. Directions for using the PrintKey are found here: https://its.uiowa.edu/support/article/2455.
