This LibGuide has been created to help you find information on the field of library and information science through journals, databases, open-access resources, and professional organizations. The “Searching For & Citing Resources Tab” includes information about using the libraries’ resources (including specific information for distance students), search strategies, and grey literature. The “Core Resources” tab includes resources that are relevant to most areas of librarianship. The remaining tabs include specialized resources on major areas of specialization within librarianship. This LibGuide is intended to serve as a jumping off point for your research and professional development rather than as an exhaustive list of available resources. Mentors, advisors, professors, and professional connections will also serve as important resources for learning resources and information on more focused areas of librarianship.
This LibGuide was created by Caitlin Matheis, a graduate student in the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Iowa and a student worker with the Humanities and Social Sciences librarians in the Main Library. Sections of this guide were adapted from a previous library and information science guide created by Duncan Stewart.
