University of Iowa Sciences Library

The Sciences Library is a place to connect people and information.

Opened in 1999, the Sciences Library is conveniently located in the center of campus, on Iowa Avenue, between Phillips Hall and the Biology Building. Situated in a grassy courtyard, this impressive Beaux-Arts style structure was originally the Anatomy Theater for the Medical Department.

Today, it is filled with quiet and group study areas, and equipped with all the technology you need. The Sciences Library has books and journals in astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, physics, and more, and provides access to over 5,000 electronic journals and science-related DVDs. Our popular services help you find the information you need efficiently and effectively.
