- 2020 - 2021 Rhetoric Approved Course Materials Available in UI LibrariesThis list contains books from the Rhetoric Course Materials and Approved Text List 2020 - 2021 currently available at The University of Iowa Libraries. Each item in the list is followed by a permalink to the InfoHawk+ catalog record for that item. Using the permalinks provided will assist students in locating these materials should the need arise. The document is divided to provide easy access to catalog records for physical items and e-books, when available.
Use the permalinks provided in the InfoHawk+ catalog records in your course ICON site to provide your students with quick access to ebooks and other electronic versions of course materials.
Services
Instructors can place print materials and media on course reserve for use by students. E-reserves (online video, PDFs or links to e-articles) are made available to students through ICON. By giving Course Reserve staff access to ICON, they can add and manage library resources and course content. For more information, please visit ICON for Course Reserve.

Submit a request
The University of Iowa Libraries has purchased a subscription that provides all students, staff, and faculty complimentary, full access to The New York Times and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
New York Times - Use the link provided below and register with your UIowa email.
Chronicle of Higher Education - Use the steps below to register for access.
- Click the following link to log-in using the UI Libraries subscription. https://purl.lib.uiowa.edu/chronicle
- If off-campus you will need to enter your hawkid and password to gain initial access to the site.
- If you see the message "Site license access provided by University of Iowa" in the top left corner of The Chronicle site, then you are ready for the next step. If you do not see this message, use the link provided above to re-open The Chronicle.
- Click on the 'Sign In' option at the top right corner of the page.
- Choose the 'Sign Up' tab.
- Enter your first and last name. It is essential that you enter your UI email address in this step. Your password can (and should, for the sake of security) be unique to this site. Click 'Sign Up'.
- You'll receive an email asking you to confirm your account.
- From now on you should be able to use this log-in combination -- your UI email and unique password -- to access Chronicle content without using the proxy url log-in process each time.
