Overview

The Pomerantz Career Center has a Student Internship Handbook that provides an overview of the entire process of an internship - from start to finish.

Tippie also has an Internship Guide that you should review to have a better understanding of the fundamentals for every internship.

If you have questions about which types of internships might be best for you, you can contact the Management and Entrepreneurship Department Employment Liaison, Erin Nelson (erin-nelson@uiowa.edu) to talk about your major, career goals, and and how to create an internship search plan.

When you are ready to look for an internship, visit the Pomerantz Career Center's "Finding Your Internship" site for tips to find an internship. You can attend career fairs, search Handshake and other job search sites, and reach out through your personal network to become aware of internship opportunities.

Once you have your internship secured, you should register your internship with the Pomerantz Career Center to receive course credit or transcript notation, reflect on the experience, or meet a requirement of the employer or your program.

You may also want to take some time to learn more about internship courses for Tippie students. Internship courses range from 0-3 semester hours and are offered either by the Tippie College of Business or the Pomerantz Career Center. Most students choose BUS:3100 (0 semester hours) or CCP:1201 (1-3 s.h.). We encourage you to review the Internship Course FAQs and learn the details of all of the internship course options before choosing one.
