History of the LNACC: Mural

NA/Chicano Week

Mural

Mural

The original mural was created by artist Manuel Unzueta in 1974.

In 2001, a local artist restored the mural. During the restoration process several elements within the painting were changed or removed.  These modifications included changes in color, the flipping of the eagle head, and the removal of the original artists name and dedication.  The original dedication read “To all our carnales, 1974”. The changes sparked a debate over this symbol of activism and change on the UI campus.
