Outreach — Fort Madison, IA

In September of 1972, the Chicano Indian American Cultural Center (CIACC) attended the annual Fiesta in FT. Madison, Iowa commemorating El Dia de Independencia. Students spoke with members of the community about the CIACC and the educational opportunities at the University of Iowa.  This event began the annual visits to Fort Madison, as well as the local prison, by members of the CIACC. The students went to talk to, and to exchange views and information with the inmates. - El Laberinto Sept. 1972
