On Monday, April 8, 2024, a partial solar eclipse will be visible from Iowa City. During this rare event, the moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and therefore blocks the light of the Sun.

The Department of Physics & Astronomy and the Sciences Library are pleased to offer two eclipse viewing stations: on the Pentacrest in front of the Old Capitol and in the courtyard in front of the Sciences Library. In case of cloudy skies, you can watch live video streams of the eclipse at   NASA's livestream will be shown in the Sciences Library (regardless of the weather).
