If you choose not to use EndNote Basic or EndNote Desktop, there are still other citation managers available to you. Some of the programs listed on this page are free, others are paid. They may or may not be supported by the UI Libraries.

[Free] Mendeley makes it easy to keep your collection of PDFs organized. It takes PDFs, extracts author/title/source information, renames and organizes them, and syncs them to free online storage space. It also includes a PDF reader that allows highlighting and annotations.

[Free] Flow comes from the team that delivered RefWorks. It is a fully online or cloud-based reference and document management program.
[Free] Zotero is free plug-in for Mozilla Firefox. It allows you to import and organize citations as well as attach PDFs from your computer. Citations and PDFs can be synced to a free online Zotero account. A Word plug-in allows citations to be inserted into your paper and formatted.
In an effort to make Zotero as user friendly as possible the company has developed screencasts demonstrating many of the basic functions of Zotero.
