A listing of accessibility resources at Main Library to enhance the user experience.

The University of Iowa Libraries is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming experience for all users. Main Library has a number of resources and spaces to help our users feel more comfortable while spending time at the library.

Image of dispenser for earplugs. Earplugs are orange foam. Dispenser is clear and black plastic. Earplugs - These are yours to keep. The dispenser is at the Service Desk. They can be used alone to reduce noise or with earmuffs.
Image of black and grey earmuffs with adjustable headband Noise-dampening earmuffs - These can be checked out and used in Main Library. They can be borrowed for up to four hours at a time. Can be used alone, with earplugs, or with your own Air Pods/ear buds. 
Image of grey, three-section vinyl pad Weighted lap pads (5 lbs.) - These can be checked out and used in Main Library. They can be borrowed for up to four hours at a time. 
Image of black, round vinyl cushion with raised texture pattern and air pump Wobble cushions (with air pump) - These can be checked out and used in Main Library. The cushion can be inflated or deflated based on personal preference. They can be borrowed for up to four hours at a time. 
Image of textured, bright colored strips in various patterns Calm Strips (assorted) - A textured, adhesive strip will be given out when the earmuffs, lap pad, or cushion are checked out. The calm strip is yours to keep.

All items, other than earplugs, were funded by a Diversity Catalyst Seed Grant from the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (2021).
