Family Medicine Preceptors: Accessing UIOWA Resources

Hawk ID

As preceptors for the University of Iowa, you will have access to numerous resources and services through Hardin Library. When accessing these from off-campus, you will often need to log in to view materials or access your library account. All of our systems use HawkID for login purposes, and you will need to reset your HawkID password periodically. If you are having trouble accessing our resources, please use the links below to regain access:

What is my HawkID?

What is my HawkID password?

I need to change my HawkID password.

I tried the wrong password too many times, and I need to unlock my account

NOTE: You will need to change your password once a year. Notification will be sent to your UIowa email account. If you use another account more regularly, you may want to forward your email.

You can also call ITS:  (319) 384-4357

If your Hawk ID is working correctly but you still can't access our resources, your department likely has created your Hawk ID incorrectly and you will need to contact them to get it fixed.

Access Options

With your HawkID you can access any digital materials, including articles and E-books, through our Databases

If you are on-campus, you can check out any loanable materials. Due date for most faculty materials is early June.

If you find an article or book chapter that is not available through University of Iowa Libraries, you can always request that it be electronically delivered to you.

Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery: We will locate and scan any article we have in print, or request a digital copy from another university, and send you a link to the PDF of the article. You can also request book chapters.

Remote Delivery Services: You can also request physical materials held by UI Libraries be sent to you. Please see link for more information on policies.
