Digital Signage Instructions: Create a Slide Using PowerPoint

PowerPoint is a presentation software that doesn’t provide a lot of options for exporting images in specific dimensions/ DPI. Therefore the following instructions may differ depending on the version and operating system (Mac or Windows) PowerPoint is running on.

PowerPower 2016 Mac

  • Open up PowerPoint and create a New Presentation.
  • Next click Design > Slide Size > Page Setup.
  • Choose On-screen Show (16:10) from the dropdown box next to Slide sized for which will automatically set the image to 1920x1080 pixels. Next select ok.
  • Use our recommended Content Guidelines and Slide Requirements to create your slide.
  • Go to File > Export. Name your slide (see below for guidelines on naming files) and then select JPEG in the File Format dropdown box. Make sure Width is 1920 and Height is 1080. Finally select Export
  • It is also recommended that you also save your PowerPoint file so you can go back and make changes if necessary.
  • It is recommended that all flies be stored in the Communications folder on the L Drive for easy access. 
     

PowerPoint 2010 Windows

  1. In the "Design" tab, click "Page Setup"

  2. In the "Page Setup" window manually enter the dimensions 13.333 in. x 7.5 in.

  3. From the "File" Menu, click "Save As"

  4. In the Save As dialog box, browse to where you'd like to save the files.

  5. At the bottom of the  "Save As" dialog box, in the dropdown labeled "Save as Type", choose JPEG (File Interchange Format)

  6. Name the files
