UI Libraries strives to provide the same level of service to UI students both on and away from campus. Use these methods to access books, journal articles and other library resources away from Iowa City.

Individual articles and individual chapters of books can be scanned and delivered through our secure electronic delivery system.

1. Sign in to the Interlibrary Loan/Article Delivery system using your HawkID and password.
2. The first time you sign in, you will be asked to create an account including your preferred shipping address and password known only to you.
3. It is important to choose Distance Education whenever you are given that option.

Articles may be available electronically if the copyright holder has granted permission for electronic access.

• Use the Infolink button in any University of Iowa database to check for online availability.
• If the article is not available online, the Infolink button in the database you search will give you an option to request the article through the Article Delivery Service.
• In most cases, we will scan articles and notify you by email when they are available in the system.

• Request books from the University of Iowa Libraries Interlibrary Loan/Article Delivery system. Books will be shipped directly to the address you specify.
• You will need to know the:
  • Author or Editor and title of the book
  • It will help us find the right book if you include other information including the call number from the University of Iowa Libraries catalog. (Other libraries might assign a different call number - use ours.)
  • Be sure to specify if you need a specific edition of the book or if any edition will do.
  • Books will be shipped at the University of Iowa Libraries' expense and will include instructions on how to return them. Return shipping is at your expense.

• Use the same process outlined above to request books from other libraries. However...
• For time-saving reasons, you might prefer to request books we do not own from a local public or academic library in your area.
• Use WorldCat or the NCES public library locator to find libraries near you.
