The Iowa Digital Library features more than a million digital objects created from the holdings of the University of Iowa Libraries and its campus partners. Included are illuminated manuscripts, historic maps, fine art, historic newspapers, scholarly works, and more.
The Digital Library first launched in the mid-2000s on OCLC's digital asset management software platform, ContentDM. OCLC ceased support and development of ContentDM in the last year, so the University of Iowa Libraries migrated its digital content to the open source platform Islandora. You can read more about Islandora here.
The Libraries learned a lot from migrating its digital collections into a new system, but we're looking to learn even more. This project is designed to scope in on various collections to observe how they function in their new environment. This way, if we make changes to the Iowa Digital Library, we have some user data on all collections and how they are working - or not - in Islandora. Thanks for volunteering to help us gather this data!
