Chat
For fast online assistance, you can chat with a librarian! Chat hours are normally 9AM-9PM Monday thru Thursday, with some evening & weekend hours.
Research Consultations
Librarians are available to meet with you one-on-one for a research consultation. A research consultation is basically a private appointment to talk with a librarian about finding resources, sources, and specific research questions in that area. After answering a few questions, we will determine which librarian is best fit to help with your particular need. To request a consultation, complete a simple form here: https://www.lib.uiowa.edu/research/consultations/.
Evening Research Assistance
RESEARCH DOESN'T HAVE TO BE HARD
The UI Libraries has a dedicated service providing evening research support, helping students develop and improve research skills and critical thinking. We offer the resources and assistance students need to become successful researchers.
Bring your assignment in or your research ideas and we will sit down with you to discuss where to start looking for sources using Libraries databases and how to find credible sources online. You can ask about citations, where to find newspaper sources, scholarly articles, and more.
Drop in at the Just Ask Desk on the first floor of the Main Library from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday–Thursday or visit our website to schedule an appointment.
