ENGL:2010 Foundations of the English Major

To Use, or Not to Use, That is the Question - Literary Criticism version

The word criticism can be used as a search term/keyword to find...well, criticism. Additionally, subject headings may indicate if a book contains criticism. (See the examples below.)

Clicking on the subject heading Shakespeare, William, 1564-1616. Sonnets -- Criticism and interpretation will show you all the works in InfoHawk+ with the same subject heading.

Clicking on the subject heading Sonnets, English-History and criticism will show you all the works in InfoHawk+ with the same subject heading.

If you want to reduce the amount of criticism your are finding in your results, you can limit the criticism in your search results. Using the facets on the left side of the page, expand the Subject list, then click on the red check box to the right of any term with the word criticism. Note: this is not absolute, you may still have some criticism creep through.

You can also do an Advanced Search to limit criticism in your results. For instance, use Shakespeare and sonnets as your keywords, then Add a New Line. Change the And in the drop down menu to NOT and add the term criticism.
