2. Use the searchbox on the InfoHawk +.
Though UBorrow is a separate service, you may check the status of your UBorrow requests at any time by logging into Interlibrary Loan.
You will receive an email notification when your request is available for pick-up.
Requests are sent to the delivery location you have selected in your Interlibrary Loan account.
To change your selected delivery location, log in to Interlibrary Loan and click to "Change User Information" in the bottom left.
You may borrow print books received via UBorrow for an initial loan period of 12 weeks.
If you want to renew a book received via UBorrow for an additional 4 weeks, you may do so by logging into Interlibrary Loan.
If the item is available at the University of Iowa Libraries, you won't be able to request it via UBorrow.
Instead, UBorrow will display the location and call number of the item and provide a link to Smart Search.
Use this information to locate the item and retrieve it from the University of Iowa Libraries location.
"Not available via UBorrow" means that neither the University of Iowa Libraries nor any of the other UBorrow libraries has an available copy.
If an item is unavailable via UBorrow, you may still request the item via Interlibrary Loan directly from the UBorrow search results screen by clicking on "Request ILL."
Enter your search term(s) in the search box (Simple Search), or click on "Advanced Search" to:
Once you click the "Search!" button, UBorrow will take a moment to retrieve matches to your search. The "Searching" message and a spinning icon will display.
Click a specific title from the search results to view detailed information and availability.
The message "Searching for all copies everywhere" will display as UBorrow determines the availability of the item at all participating libraries. You may need to scroll down the page to view availability.
If an item is available for request via UBorrow, the "Get It!" link will appear near the middle of the item's page.
Click the "Request" link to log in (log in to the Interlibrary Loan system ahead of time, using your HawkID). Once you are logged in, the request form will display. Though UBorrow is a separate service, UBorrow requests appear in the Interlibrary Loan request form. The form fields will be filled in automatically.
Click the "Submit Request" button at the bottom of the page to complete the request.
You will receive an email when your item is available for pickup.
