Once you've established your research question, start a list of keywords relating to the main concepts. You can add to this list over time,to include:

• synonyms
• broader terms
• narrower terms
• important individuals, dates, locations

You should also consider what types of materials you need to find: scholarly articles or books? popular press materials? existing fieldwork notes?
