Welcome!
"A good cartographer is both a scientist and an artist."
– Erwin Josephus Raisz (1893 – 1968)
Welcome! This LibGuide focuses on Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The guide is to be used to locate information on local, state, national, and world spatial data online. It will also provide direction on where to go to create a GIS map as well as information on ways GIS is being used today. As subsection of cartography, GIS is a broad field, with endless online resources. The GIS LibGuide aims to provide the most useful content available in the field and help you with your studies at the University of Iowa. In addition, please visit Starting Point: GIS to get a basic understanding of the subject. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or suggestions.
