Solar Eclipse - August 21, 2017: Where can you see it?

Eclipse Path

The August 21, 2017 solar eclipse will be visible anywhere in the United States, but you will only be able to see a total solar eclipse in the path of totality, represented by the gray line in the images below. To find the best place to experience a total eclipse, use NASA's Total Solar Eclipse Interactive Map.

Outside the gray line, you will be able to see a partial eclipse. In Iowa City at 1:12 PM, the moon will obscure about 92% of the sun. You don't have to go to the top of a building or to a special place to see this amazing natural event, just step outside, put on your eclipse glasses, and look for the sun!
