The National Park Service (NPS) of the U.S. Department of Interior helps oversee numerous federal monuments, memorials and historic sites. This includes the various memorials and monuments on and around the National Mall in Washington D.C., Civil War battlefields, in addition to sites such Ellis Island, the Gateway Arch/Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, the Flight 93 National Memorial, etc.
